Welcome to the Centre for Distance and Online Education, Punjabi University, Patiala. Established under the Punjab Act 35 of 1961 for promotion and development of the regional language Punjabi, literature in Punjabi and the culture of Punjab. Punjabi University, Patiala has a long and glorious record of outstanding achievements. The University has played a leading role in promoting Punjabi as a medium of learning by developing literature related to various fields of knowledge in it.

Centre for Distance and Online Education at Punjabi University, Patiala is amongst the oldest departments of distance education in the country. It has been engaged in dissemination of higher education among the people who cannot study in the regular mode. Employees in the government and private sector; and army, paramilitary, and police personnel are among the biggest beneficiaries of the various academic and vocational programmes offered by the Centre. Furthermore, the aspiring people from the deprived sections of the society and from far-flung areas also benefit from our educational programmes. Women constitute a substantial portion of the total learners whom the Centre has been serving for the last more than five decades. One of the most salient features of the Centre is that it does not put any bar on the age of the people seeking admission in the various programmes.

The Centre has highly qualified and experienced faculty in all major disciplines of study. The faculty members make all efforts to reach out to the students through the latest means of technology to fulfill their academic needs. The teaching and administrative staff of the Centre ensures best possible support and assistance in facilitating admissions, organizing personal contact programmes, providing study material, and in doing examination related work.
